Deleting Large Messages Using Webmail

These steps will walk you through the process of deleting a large or undesirable message from your e-mail box without the need to download it to your computer.

  1. Cancel the e-mail download process and close the e-mail software running on your computer, such as Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, Eudora, etc. This is a critical step. Failing to cancel and close your local e-mail software will cause this process to be unsuccessful.

  2. After closing your e-mail software, wait 3-4 minutes for any remaining locks on your e-mailbox to be released.

  3. Open your web browser and browse to the SVN homepage (http://www.svn.net).

  4. Click on the Secure Web Mail link, as indicated below.

  5. Enter your username and password, as indicated below. Then click Login.

  6. Your mailbox with e-mail messages will be displayed, as indicated below. The Size column will indicate the size of the message(s) in your mailbox.

  7. Click in the checkbox for each message you want to delete, as indicated below. Then click on the Delete button.

  8. After clicking Delete, you will be returned to the listing of your inbox. Depending on the size of your message and the load on the mail server, it may take a few moments for the message to be deleted.

  9. If the message is not deleted or you experience difficulty deleting the message, there may still be a lock on your mailbox caused by the e-mail software on your local computer. Verify again that the e-mail software on your local computer is closed. If the problem persists, restart your computer, wait 5-10 minutes, and then try the process again.
