Eudora 5.x E-mail Configuration

  • Setting up Eudora 5.x for the first time
  • Modifying settings for an existing account in Eudora 5.x

    Important Note:

  • Where 'username' and 'username@svn.net' appear in this document, use your own username and not the word 'username.'


    Setting up Eudora 5.x for the first time

    1. When you start Eudora 5.x for the first time, you will be prompted with the Eudora Email Account Setup Wizard.

    2. Click on the Next button to get started.

    3. Click on Create a brand new email account and then click Next.

    4. Enter your real name, as you would like it to appear, in the Your Name: box and then click Next.

    5. Enter your e-mail address in the Email Address: box and then click Next.

    6. Enter your SVN username (this is the first part of your e-mail address, before the @svn.net portion) in the Login Name: box and then click Next.

    7. Enter mail.svn.net in the Incoming Server: box and be sure that POP is selected. Then click Next.

    8. Enter mail.svn.net in the Outgoing Server: box and then click Next.

    9. Click on the Finish button. Your account is now configured.


    Modifying settings for an existing account in Eudora 5.x

    1. In Eudora, click on the Tools menu and then select Options.

    2. Click on the Getting Started icon under Category on the left side of the window.

    3. Enter your full name, as you would like it to appear, in the Real name: box.

    4. Enter your e-mail address in the Return address: box. (If you have a domain name, such as yourname.com, hosted with us, you can enter an e-mail address @yourname.com here. Otherwise, this should be your username@svn.net)

    5. Enter mail.svn.net in the Mail Server (Incoming): box.

    6. Enter your SVN username (this is the first part of your e-mail address, before the @svn.net portion) in the Login Name: box.

    7. Enter mail.svn.net in the SMTP Server (Outgoing): box.

    8. Click on the Checking Mail icon on the left side of the window.

    9. Enter a number between 10-30 in the Check for mail every x minute(s) box. This is how often Eudora will automatically check our server for new mail while you have Eudora open.

    10. Place a check in the Save password box if you do not want to have to enter your password each time you start Eudora.

    11. Click on Incoming Mail on the left side of the window.

    12. For Server configuration:, click on POP.

    13. For Authentication style:, select Passwords.

    14. Leave all of the checkboxes on this window unchecked.

    15. Click OK.

    16. You have now successfully configured your e-mail account.
