Mozilla E-mail Configuration


First-Time Mozilla E-mail Configuration

  1. Start Mozilla.

  2. Select Mail & Newsgroups from the Window menu at the top of the screen.

  3. If the Account Wizard does not appear, select Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings from the Edit menu and then click on the Add Account button.

  4. When the Account Wizard appears, be sure that Email account is selected and then click on Next.

  5. In the box labeled Your Name:, type in your full name as you would like it to appear on e-mail that you send.

  6. In the box labeled Email Address:, type in your e-mail address. For example, if your SVN username is "somebody", your e-mail address is "somebody@svn.net".

  7. Click Next.

  8. Under Select the type of incoming server you are using, be sure that POP is selected.

  9. In the box labaled Incoming Server:, type in mail.svn.net

  10. In the box labeled Outgoing Server:, type in mail.svn.net


  11. Click Next.

  12. In the User Name: box, type in your SVN username. This is the first part of your e-mail address, before the @ sign. Remember that your username is case-sensitive and should be entered in all lower case letters.

  13. Click Next.

  14. You can change the name in the Account Name: box to anything you like, but the default is acceptable.

  15. Click Next and then click Finish.

  16. If any additional windows are still open, click OK to close them.

  17. Your mail account is now set up and ready for use in Mozilla.


Modifying Settings On An Existing E-mail Configuration

  1. Start Mozilla.

  2. Select Mail & Newsgroups from the Window menu at the top of the screen.

  3. A window like the one above should appear. The first heading on the left side should match the name you gave to your e-mail account when you first set it up in Mozilla.

  4. If there is a plus sign (+) next to the name of your e-mail account, click on it.

  5. Click on the name of your e-mail account.

  6. In the Your Name: box, type your full name as you would like it to appear on e-mail that you send.

  7. In the Email Address: box, type your e-mail address. This is typically your SVN username followed by @svn.net, for example, somebody@svn.net. If you have a domain name (i.e. yourname.com), you can enter your e-mail address at your domain name here.


  8. Click on Server Settings.

  9. The Server Name: box should contain mail.svn.net.

  10. The User Name: box should contain your SVN username.


  11. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP).

  12. The Server Name: box should contain mail.svn.net.

  13. Use name and password should not be checked.

  14. Use secure connection (SSL): should be set to Never.


  15. Click OK to close the Account Settings window.
