Netscape 6.x/7.x E-mail Configuration
Versions of Netscape 6.x are buggy, and should be removed
from your computer. You should then download the latest version by clicking
on the link below for your operating system, then choose a location to
save the file to that you will remember (like the desktop).
Windows 98 and up
Mac OS 8 to 9.2
Mac OS X
After the file downloads (it will take a while, over an hour over
a 56K modem), run it by double-clicking its icon and follow the
instructions on your screen to install Netscape.
After you have installed Netscape, refer to the images below. Screens
for the Windows version are shown but the information applies to the
Mac version as well. If any of the images are not identical to your
screen, enter the information in the corresponding fields.
Where 'username' and 'username@svn.net' appear in this document, use your username and not the word 'username'.

Select Mail & Newsgroups from the Tasks menu.

Select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings from the Edit menu.

A new window should come up. If there are any mail account listed on the left
hand side of this window for which you do not receive mail, delete
them by selecting the account name(s) and hitting the Remove Account button.
Click on Outgoing Server(SMTP) and make sure the server name is "mail.svn.net",
then uncheck the "Use name and password" box if it's not already.
Click on New Account.

Now the Account Wizard window should come up. Make sure the "ISP or
email provider" button is selected, then hit the next button.

Put the name you would like to appear on your outgoing email in the Your
Name field, and put your email address at SVN in the Email Address
field, then hit the next button.

Select POP as the type of server to use, the server name is mail.svn.net.
Click "Next" to continue.

Enter your username. This will be the portion of your email address which
comes before the "@svn.net" part, and will always be lowercase.
Click "Next" to continue.

Enter the name you would like to refer to this account by. It can be
anything you like, but by default Netscape uses your email address.
Click "Next" to continue.

Verify that the information you entered is correct, then click "Finish."

Now you should be back at the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
window. Click on the account you just created and uncheck "Compose
messages in HTML format."
If you have a domain hosted at SVN, you may wish to enter your desired
email address at your domain in the "Reply-to" field (omit the word OPTIONAL: ).

Click on "Server Settings" and uncheck "Check for messages every 10
minutes."

Click on the Ok button to close the settings window, and you should now
be able to use Netscape to download, send and read your mail for your SVN
account.
