Outlook XP E-mail Configuration
- Refer to the images and instructions below.
- Where 'username' and 'username@svn.net' appear in this document, use your username and not the word 'username'.
- Select Tools, E-mail Accounts (You may have to click on the two down arrows at the bottom of the menu in order for E-Mail Accounts to be visible.)
- If you are setting up your e-mail account in Outlook XP for the first time, select Add a new e-mail account and click Next. If you need to change or update your existing settings, skip to step #13 below.
- Select POP3 and then click Next.
- You will now see a window like the one below step #11.
- In the Your Name box, fill in your name as you would like it to appear on e-mail that you send.
- In the E-mail Address box, fill in your e-mail address.
- In both the Incoming mail server (POP3) and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) boxes, fill in mail.svn.net.
- Make sure that your username (the first part of your e-mail address, before @svn.net) and password are filled in in the appropriate boxes. You may want to check the Remember password box so that you don't have to enter your password each time you want to check your mail.
- Do NOT check Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).
- Click on Next and then click on Finish. You have now set up your e-mail account in Outlook XP. The remainder of this document does not apply to you.
- To change or update your existing account, select View or change existing e-mail accounts and then click Next.
- You will then be presented with a window like the one below. Select the account you wish to change and then click on the Change button.
- A window like the one below will appear. Make your desired changes. (If you're having problems with Outlook XP automatically opening your dial-up connection, click on the More Settings button, then click on the Connection tab and make sure that Connect using my phone line is selected. Also, make sure that your connection to SVN is selected in the box titled Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection. Click OK.)
- Click Next and then click Finish. You have now updated your e-mail account.
