Silicon Valley North

Mac OS 10 (Early Versions) Configuration

  1. Open System Preferences from the Dock, then select Network.

    System Preferences Window

  2. In the Network window, select the PPP tab and fill in the appropriate settings. A list of local dialup numbers can be found at http://www.svn.net/helpdesk/dialup.html.

Make sure to enter your username (the first part of your email address, before the "@svn.net" part) and password in the correct case as both are case-sensitive. Usernames will always be all-lowercase.

  3. Clicking the PPP Options... button allows you to further configure your dialup settings. Check the box alongside "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications" if you want your computer to dial SVN automatically when you open a web browser or mail program. Click OK when you have finished.

  5. If you did not select "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications" in the PPP Options... window, you'll need to connect manually by going to the Applications Folder and opening the Internet Connect program and clicking on the "Connect" button. Otherwise, you can connect by opening a web or mail program.
