How do I setup my web directory on SVN?

Your web directory will have already been created by SVN. Creation of this directory is part of configuring our server for your Virtual Domain.

Your web directory will be /home/htdocs/username or /home/username/public_html. These are the same directory.

How do I upload my web page documents?

To upload your pages to SVN you can use an FTP program to transfer the documents from your computer to your web page directory on SVN.

Connect to ftp.svn.net with your FTP program using your username and password. You need to change into your web directory.

After changing directories your ftp program should show that you're in the directory /home/htdocs/username or /home/username/public_html. These are the same directory.

Select the files you wish to upload from you computer and PUT or COPY the files into your web directory.

What is the web address of my web pages?

Your Web Address URL (Uniform Resource Locator) for your web pages depends on what type of domain you have registered. It will be one of the following:

http://www.yourdomain.com/
http://www.yourdomain.net/
http://www.yourdomain.org/

What is the ftp address of my web pages?

Some publishing programs ask for the ftp address to publish your pages to. This is in the format ftp://server/directories.

ftp://ftp.svn.net/home/htdocs/username

How do I get a counter on my web page?

SVN has two different counters that you can use on your web page. Please follow the following instructions to use a counter on your page.

How do I get form submissions e-mailed to me?

SVN has a form e-mail handler that you can use on your web page. Please follow the following instructions to use it on your page.

Where are the statistics for my web pages?

SVN runs two statistics packages on hosted domains, Webalizer and Analog. To see the Webalizer statistics, look for a directory called webstats in your web directory. To see the Analog statistics, look for a document called wwwstat.html in your web directory.

For example, If your domain was yourdomain.com,
Webalizer stats: http://www.yourdomain.com/webstats
and Analog stats: http://www.yourdomain.com/wwwstat.html

What the results mean for Webalizer and Analog.

How does e-mail for my domain work?

E-mail sent to anyname@yourdomain.com goes into the mailbox associated with your username. Use this username@svn.net to retrieve your e-mail. If you specify your return address as somename@yourdomain.com only you would ever see this username.

An example:

If your username was "joeuser", your real name was "Joe Doe" and you registered the domain yourdomain.com you would:

Set your e-mail program to retrieve your mail from joeuser@svn.net.
Set your return address to joedoe@yourdomain.com or whatever you like.
Set your POP3 or mail server username to joeuser.

Then if somebody replied to your e-mail or sent new mail to:

joedoe@yourdomain.com or
joeuser@yourdomain.com or
stephan@yourdomain.com or
anybody@yourdomain.com or
anything_at_all@yourdomain.com

It would go to your mailbox, which is joeuser@svn.net.
