Windows 2000 Configuration
- You may be prompted for your Windows 2000 setup disk. Please have it ready.
- Open My Computer, then Control Panel, and then Network and Dialup Connections.
- Double click on Make New Connection. The "Internet Setup Wizard" will appear.
- Read the introduction, and then click Next.
- Select Dial-up to the Internet by clicking on the white circle next to it. Click Next.
- Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually..." by clicking on the white circle next to it. Click Next.
- Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem", and then click Next.
- Enter the area code and phone number of the SVN dial-up number that is local to you. You can enter the number with or without the hyphens. Then, click Next.
- In the User name: field, enter your SVN username. This is the part of your e-mail address before the @ sign. (For example, if your e-mail address is somebody@svn.net, then your username is somebody)
- Enter your password in the Password: field. Your password is case-sensitive, so make sure that your Caps Lock key is not turned on. Click Next.
- Enter a name for the connection. You can pick any name you want, but we suggest picking one that you will recognize later, such as SVN. Click Next.
- Select No when the system asks you if you want to set up an Internet mail account now. Click Next.
- You'll be presented with a screen that tells you your connection has been successfully completed. Click Finish.
- A dialog like the one to the right should appear. This is your connection window. Make sure that your username is filled in correctly. Note: Windows 2000 will "pad" the password field by filling it in with extra *'s. If more *'s than the number of characters in your password appear, this is normal.
- Check the box that says Save Password, and then click on Dial.
