Account Terms and Conditions

  1. These terms and conditions apply to all Silicon Valley North customers.

  2. SVN reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. We suggest you review them frequently.

  3. Accounts are for the use of the customer only. Do not allow others to use your account.

  4. Bulk, unsolicited, or excessive e-mail or news postings are prohibited. Do not use the system in any way connected with bulk, unsolicited, or excessive e-mail or news postings. Messages in excess of 100 per day will be considered excessive. SVN maintains a "zero tolerence" SPAM/UCE policy.

  5. All communications, including web pages, are subject to State and Federal laws. Customers accept full and sole responsibility for the content and nature of their communications.

  6. Bulletins, advisories, and warning messages may be sent to customers by e-mail. It is the responsibility of the customer to read these messages.

  7. Multiple concurrent telnet session are allowed, within reason.

  8. One simultaneous dial-up connection per account. One account, one modem connection at any time, no exceptions.

  9. SVN does not regulate the frequency of dial-up sessions or the time connected per session with the following exceptions:
    1. Connections idle more than 15 minutes may be automatically terminated by the system.
    2. Non-interactive sessions longer than 8 hours may be automatically terminated by the system.
    3. Customers connected an average of 12 hours or more per day, every day, may be asked to step up to a dedicated account.

  10. We try to maintain sufficient phone lines to minimize busy signals during peak periods. SVN disclaims any and all responsibility for any damages related to inability to connect.

  11. Customers accounts are allowed the following disk space and bandwidth limitations:
    1. Dial-up Access: 30 megabytes of disk space, 1000 megabytes of bandwidth per month.
    2. Domain Hosting: 50 megabytes of disk space, 2 gigabytes of bandwidth per month.
    Storage beyond these limits will be billed at $1.00 per megabyte per month. Bandwidth beyond these limits will be billed at $.03 per megabyte per month.

  12. Your actions on the system must not consume an excessive amount of system resources.

  13. IRC bots/clients, distributed computing clients, and BBS/MUD software may not be run on SVN servers.

  14. Servers of any type may not be run over a dial-up connection without explicit permission.

  15. Every hosted domain must have an internet account to support it. One hosted domain per account. SVN does not charge fees on behalf of InterNIC. InterNIC fees and domain ownership issues are the responsibility of the customer.

  16. Quarterly charges accrue from the time you sign up until the time you formally call to cancel your account.

  17. Technical support is limited to connectivity issues only. We do not provide technical support on software, including, but not limited to Netscape and Eudora. We may, however, offer assistance from time to time, at our discretion.

  18. SVN performs nightly backups of data on the system. If your data is critical, we recommend you keep a copy locally. SVN disclaims any and all responsibility for any damages related to loss or damage of data.

  19. SVN disclaims any and all responsibility for any damages related to temporary downtime.

  20. SVN does not refund for temporary service outages, with the sole exception of dedicated customers.

  21. Do not use our system for any illegal activity. If we determine that you are using our system to commit illegal acts, we will immediately suspend or terminate your service.

  22. Do not attack this or any other system. This includes denial of service, mail bombing, hacking, and annoyance attacks. Do not attempt to gain any system or other customers password.

  23. Do not view or alter any system or other customers directories, files, or resources. Do not make public any private or system files or resources. Do not impersonate any of our staff or customers.

  24. Do not threaten or harass our staff, other customers, or any person via e-mail, news, telephone, or other electronic means.

  25. Depending upon the circumstances of any violation of these terms and conditions, we may give a warning, suspend your service, or terminate your account without notice or refund.

  26. SVN reserves the right to refuse service to any customer for any reason.
