Divemaster

The NAUI Divemaster program is an exciting and challenging diving leadership course for recreation scuba divers with a high level of diving knowledge and experience. It is one of the highest recreational scuba diving certifications, second only to an instructor. The Divemaster program is designed to develop diving leadership, planning and organizational skills to enhance the safety and enjoyment of future diving activities. This extensive program includes planning and conducting group dives for certified divers, assisting basic scuba instruction in the pool and open water, pre-dive briefing, post-dive debriefing, problem recognition and resolution. The Divemaster candidates diving leadership will be applied by planning and conducting various diving activities involving shore, boat, night and deep diving. This program also focuses on emergency procedures, assists, rescues and legal aspects of a NAUI Divemaster.

Prerequisites

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Good physical condition
  • Diving leadership physical examination
  • At least one year of scuba diving experience
  • At least 25 logged dives and 20 hours underwater in the last two years
  • Current Class 3 First-Aid and CPR cert.
  • NAUI Scuba Rescue Diver
  • NAUI Master Scuba Diver
    Meet one of the following requirements
    NAUI Skin Diving Leader
    NAUI Assistant Instructor
    Water skills and abilities equivalent to that of a NAUI Assistant Instructor

    The NAUI Divemaster program is conducted in three phases, the Preparation, Initial Evaluation and Divemaster Training / Evaluation Phase. The Preparation Phase must start several months before the Divemaster program begins. Contact Underwater Adventures to schedule an appointment to receive the important information needed to prepare for this exciting and challenging program. The Initial Evaluation Phase is to determine a Divemaster Candidates knowledge, experience and qualifications by attending one class, pool and open water dive. At least a week will be given to prepare for the final portion of the Divemaster Program.
