The NAUI Scuba Diver is an entry level recreational scuba certification program. This program is designed for water adventurers with an average level of comfort in their swimming skills. The curriculum has the proper balance of emphasis on diving skills, safety and knowledge. This provides for the practical experience necessary to enjoy safe, independent underwater adventures with a scuba diving partner.

It begins with a series of informative class sessions, snorkeling and scuba diving in a swimming pool and is completed with five exciting dives off the beautiful Northern California Coast. After successfully completing the NAUI Scuba Diver program, graduates will have earned a scuba diving certification respected throughout the world.

Prerequisites

  • At least 12 years of age
  • Diving physical examination

Personal Snorkeling Equipment needed for pool the sessions
This equipment is personal equipment that cannot be rented.

  • Mask and snorkel
  • Open Heal Fins
  • Boots and gloves
  • Weight belt and weights
  • Weight belt keepers

Equipment provided by the Instructor for the pool sessions

  • Scuba cylinders Buoyancy compensator
  • Wet suit and hood

Additional Equipment needed for the ocean sessions
The personal snorkeling equipment needed for the pool sessions are also needed in the ocean. The following scuba gear may be rented or purchased for the ocean sessions.

  • Buoyancy compensator
  • Wet suit and hood
